Description
Shih Tzu (meaning “lion dog”) is a Chinese breed dog that was developed centuries ago from Tibetan breeding stock in the palace of the Chinese emperor. The Shih Tzu was likely cross bred between two Sino-Tibetan breeds, the Lhaso Apso and the Pekingese.
They have long, silky, luxurious double coat, which can be found in 14 different colors—including black, black & white, gray & white, and red & white—and three different markings. Most shih tzus also have a small white spot on their foreheads, called the “Star of Buddha.”
These dogs are happy and playful but require quite a bit of your attention. They are most happy when perched on their owner’s lap. These dogs are social and make quick friends with everyone they meet.
